This year, Catholic Education Week shines a spotlight on the innovative spirit and enduring faith that have been the hallmark of ONE holistic Catholic education in the Hastings region. As part of one Catholic Education system, we are thrilled to invite the community to join us in celebrating a tradition of excellence and the vibrant future of our schools.

Reflecting on our storied past, we are inspired by the pioneering efforts of Mary Bourne (nee McDonald) who arrived in Port Macquarie in 1871 to teach. Catholic Education Week is an embodiment of this legacy, highlighting our ongoing commitment to a faith-based learning environment that nurtures the whole child. Our schools are dedicated to combining traditional values with innovative learning opportunities, ensuring our students are well-prepared to meet the challenges of the future. This week, we celebrate our achievements in providing a balanced education that fosters kindness, faith, and innovation.

Our program for the week includes a series of events that showcase our students’ talents, community service projects, and the learning initiatives that set our schools apart. It’s an opportunity for our students to demonstrate how they are living out the values of Catholic education and making a positive impact in their community.

“We are the beneficiaries of the hard work of so many who came before us,” said Stephen Pares, Regional Services Leader, Hastings Region. “The Sisters of St Joseph showed us the importance of education and faith in action. During Catholic Education Week, we celebrate not only their legacy but also how we are moving forward with innovation and faith at the core of what we do.”

Together, we are not just commemorating a rich history; we are looking ahead to a future where every child in our care is empowered to live the fullness of life, embodying the true spirit of ONE Catholic education.
