Secondary Education
St Agnes’ Education incorporates three secondary schools: MacKillop College, St Joseph’s Regional College and Newman Senior Technical College.
MacKillop College
MacKillop College is a place of remarkable opportunities. The College has a long and proud tradition of excellence in education. With the motto Summa Tenatabo, every student is encouraged to ‘Strive for Excellence’, to do their personal best across a range of interests and activities.
Our Patron saint, Mary MacKillop, is renowned for her generous approach to all endeavours. A deliberate Pastoral Care program, underpinned by strengths-based and restorative practices philosophies, ensures the wellbeing and happiness of each and every student. At MacKillop College we aim to build a community where positive and respectful relationships are prioritised. MacKillop College is widely recognised for its long tradition of outstanding academic achievements. HSC results are continually well above state average across all subject areas.
The school offers excellence in teaching and learning, spiritual formation, pastoral care, sport and creative arts. Our highly qualified, experienced and dedicated staff are committed to giving all students the opportunity to achieve academic, personal interest and career goals. The college recognises not all students’ learning needs are the same and therefore offers exceptional learning support and enrichment programs to meet the needs of every learner.
Every student is known, cared for and loved at MacKillop College. Our hope is that as they leave MacKillop College all students are the best version of themselves, well prepared for a prosperous future.
St Joseph’s Regional College
At St Joseph’s Regional College we foster Christ-centred learners; enabling them to think creatively and critically, communicate and collaborate effectively, and build relationships based on respect, resilience and responsibility.
St Joseph’s Regional College has high expectations for our students to achieve. This begins with the St Joseph’s Regional College’s attention to the details of the seemingly smaller, but no less important, day-to-day aspects of life at the school. Hence, the wearing of school uniform with pride, care for our school environment and the manner in which we relate to others at school and in the wider community are pivotal to the formation of well-rounded and spiritually centred young people.
The majority of St Joseph’s Regional College’s ongoing academic success and heightened profile in the Hastings Valley Region is attributable to the positive relationships staff form with students in their learning.
One of the key indicators of a good school is that students are happy in their learning and are loyal to their families and communities to which they belong. When this occurs in an environment where young people are suitably challenged and extended, then a school forms the basis of a tradition that it can be proud of and worth preserving. Indeed, St Joseph’s Regional College possesses many of these qualities which make it an excellent Catholic School.

Newman Senior Technical College
Characterised by students gaining national qualifications alongside their Year 11 and 12 HSC studies in a nurturing and disciplined environment, our College has seen literally thousands of students and local employers greatly benefit along with our local economy and the wider community.
We are unique because we put the VET student first. In our context VET is not an ‘add-on’ to an existing operation. It is central to what we do. Newman’s facilities are among the best in Australia. With specialist facilities in every curriculum area, students are able to take advantage of industry standard, state of the art equipment and infrastructure. The College Café, a 400 seat hall, gymnasium facilities and excellent outdoor areas all complement these training facilities.
As a Senior College, Newman’s Pastoral Program has a distinctive structure and appeal. Headed by the Student Services Manager our Student Services Team comprises a Year 11 and Year 12 Coordinator, a Pastoral Assistant and student counsellors. This team is committed to meeting the needs of the individual with a focus on enhancing every student’s holistic development. Every student belongs to a Pastoral Care Group (focusing on their day to day welfare at the College) and an Industry Based Learning Group (focusing on their career goals, workplace learning and on the job training). As a Catholic school we have a strong commitment to student’s faith and spiritual formation.
Our Career Development Team consists of a team of dedicated professionals committed to assisting every student reach their career goals through an extensive Workplace Learning Program and the provision of School-based Apprenticeship and Traineeship opportunities.
