Week 5: Living in hope

Week 5:

Living in hope

In many of the electronic games played on devices today there is a re-set button so that, if things aren’t going well, you can simply start over again. In real life, when bad things happen, we don’t get to press restart. Suffering, particularly prolonged suffering, can make us question God, question our faith, and question our own self. We can be entombed in our pain like Lazarus in today’s Gospel from John (Chapter 11: Verses 3-7, 17, 23-27, 33-35).

Closing Prayer

Mysterious God,
You are with us in experiences of absence and presence.
Through times of darkness and doubt
and in moments and days of conviction and light,
Deepen our faith in Christ, our resurrection and life.
We pray inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Amen
