Who we are

We are a welcoming Catholic community nestled in the beautiful coastal town of Port Macquarie.

Since the first church was established in 1878, our Parish has been a cornerstone of faith, care, and support, serving the needs of our local community with compassion and respect for nearly 150 years.

Our services
St Agnes’ Catholic Parish

"Everything is oriented towards the praise and glory of God"

This vision inspires our mission to live out the Gospel in all we do:

  • To grow in holiness, modelling our lives on the image of Christ
  • To proclaim the Good News of salvation with joy and conviction
  • To minister faithfully within our Parish and faith community
  • To serve all people, especially those who are vulnerable, marginalised, or in need

Grounded in the Gospel, they shape our identity, guide our decisions, and inspire the way we live and serve

Our history in Port Macquarie

Our history reflects the growth of St Agnes’ Catholic Parish alongside the Port Macquarie community. Since 1878, we have continued to respond to the changing needs of the people we serve, growing from a small coastal church community into a diverse Parish that includes education, aged care and community services. Shaped by faith, resilience, and a commitment to service, we continue to build on this foundation today.

Meet the team
St Agnes’ Catholic Parish

At St Agnes’, good governance is about mission, stewardship, and accountability.

We operate under a structure that supports both Canon and Civil Law, and best-practice non-profit governance, ensuring everything we do is aligned with our mission and values.

Our Parish operates under the Trustees of the Roman Catholic Church for the Diocese of Lismore, in compliance with the Roman Catholic Church Trust Property Act 1936, and we are governed by three public companies:

  • St Agnes’ Assist
  • St Agnes’ Care and Lifestyle
  • St Agnes' Foundation (benevolent charity)

And one unincorporated entity:

  • St Agnes’ Parish Port Macquarie

All are registered charities with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission (ACNC) and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

St Agnes’ Catholic Parish

St Agnes’ Catholic Parish acknowledges the Birpai people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work, and serve. We acknowledge their deep connection to this land, its waters, skies, and stories, nurtured with wisdom, care, and resilience for countless generations. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging and extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
