Emmaus Village is a purpose-built community exclusively for people living with dementia. Unlike standard residential aged care facilities, which often have a dementia wing, the entire village is designed to support meaningful engagement with people with dementia.
Everyone’s preferences and circumstances are unique, and a dementia diagnosis doesn’t automatically mean Emmaus Village is the right fit for every person. As part of the enquiry process, our specialist dementia consultant meets with the individual and family to determine if the village is the best place for them.

Before applying for Emmaus Village, you will need three key things:
As part of the application process, you will be asked to source a GP that can continue the care of your loved one while in the village. This is a requirement of entry.
Emmaus Village has an onsite GP clinic; however, there is currently an extensive waitlist.
Emmaus Village is suitable for people 65 years and over with a primary diagnosis of progressive dementia, such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Vascular, Lewy Body, Frontotemporal, and mixed dementia.
No. Emmaus Village is your loved one’s home — a place where they can continue living comfortably even as their care needs change. Our experienced team supports residents to age in place, and moves only occur if it’s in their best interest or under exceptional circumstances.
Emmaus Village is home to our residents, so tours of the houses are only offered to people who have applied to live in the village. If you’d like to visit beforehand, you’re welcome to enjoy a coffee in our onsite café and explore the grounds, but please remember to respect residents’ privacy by not entering their houses.
Emmaus Village is unable to offer planned or emergency respite care unless it forms part of a transition towards permanent residency. This helps reduce disorientation and supports strong connections between residents living in the same house. Planned and emergency respite is available at our two residential aged care facilities.
No. All rooms at Emmaus Village are single occupancy, designed for one person. Several couples live in the village, either in the same house or in separate houses, and find the arrangement works well. Most of their time is spent enjoying activities and communal spaces together.
During the application process, our specialist dementia consultant will meet with your loved one to learn about their personality, preferences, and diagnosis. Based on this information, they will be assigned the house best suited to their needs and compatibility with other residents.
Yes. Emmaus Village has a limited number of concessional places for residents who are unable to pay the full accommodation costs. Eligibility is determined through a government means assessment conducted by Services Australia. We’ll guide you through this as part of the application process.
No. Residents aren’t able to keep pets in the village, but family pets are always welcome to visit, helping maintain connection and companionship.
We simply ask that vaccinations are up to date, and a copy is provided to us prior to visiting. Our beloved therapy dogs, Tilly and Hazel, also make regular visits to bring joy and comfort to everyone.
