Getting started with home care

Applying for home care can seem complicated, but we’re here to support you.

Whether you’re seeking government-funded support or private home care, our team can help you understand your options and access the services you need.

Check your eligibility

The first step is to find out if you qualify for government-funded home care by contacting My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or completing the assessment eligibility checker. Our friendly team can also advise if self-funded (private) options might be better suited to your needs or preferences.

Have a face-to-face assessment

Before you can access government-funded home care services for the first time, you will need to apply for an assessment. To arrange an assessment, contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or apply for an assessment online.

Arrange an income and asset assessment

The amount you will pay for government-funded home care will depend on your financial circumstances. To find out how much you will be required to contribute, you may need to complete an income and assets assessment. If you’re not sure if you need to complete this assessment, click here.

Receive your assessment outcome

After your face-to-face assessment, you will receive an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) referral code for each government-funded service you are eligible for. Please note that wait times to receive ACAT codes can be lengthy. If you need support while you wait, our team can help arrange short-term private home care so you’re not left without assistance.

Arrange your home care services

Once you receive your ACAT code for Support at Home, contact us so we can arrange your personalised care plan and commence services.

What if I’m not eligible for government-funding?

Whether you’re not eligible for government-funding, or you simply prefer self-funded care, we can arrange private home care services so you don’t miss out on support when you need it most.

Enquire

Home care costs

At St Agnes’ Catholic Parish, we want you to understand exactly how home care costs work. Whether you choose private services or government-funded Support at Home, we provide clear pricing so there are no surprises.

About the fee structure for home care

Home care fees vary depending on the type of service and funding option you choose. The key components include:

  • Government subsidy: This is the portion of home care costs covered by the Australian Government, reducing the amount you need to pay out of pocket.
  • Client contribution: This is your co-payment, based on your income and the type of service, that covers part of the cost not funded by the government.
  • Service costs: These are the actual fees set by providers for delivering each service, reflecting the resources and time required.
