As part of the application process, you will be asked to source a GP that can continue the care of your loved one while in our care. This is a requirement of entry.
Emmaus Village has an onsite GP clinic; however, there is currently an extensive waitlist.
When you have your key documents ready, you can submit your application online using our short application form or contact our admissions team to start the application process.
If your loved one is in hospital, the hospital discharge planner may be able to assist with this step.
Once we’ve received your application, we’ll schedule a convenient time for you to meet with a member of our admissions team. Meetings are usually held in person at our Port Macquarie office but can also be conducted via phone or videoconference if required.
This meeting will cover the admissions paperwork, accommodation costs and fees, and what we need to proceed with your application, such as a means test from Services Australia and a GP who can continue your care after admission.
If you are happy to proceed, we will schedule a convenient time for our specialist dementia consultant to meet your loved one. Meetings are usually held in person at Emmaus Village, giving you a chance to see the village. Our consultant can also travel within the Port Macquarie Hastings region to meet them at home or in hospital.
This meeting helps us get to know your loved one, assess whether Emmaus Village is the right fit, and determine which house best suits their personality, preferences, and care needs.
Once our specialist dementia consultant confirms Emmaus Village is the right fit, our admissions team will contact you with the assigned house and schedule a move-in date. All necessary paperwork will need to be completed beforehand.
If the assigned house isn’t immediately available, you will be placed on a waitlist, and we’ll provide you with regular updates for peace of mind.
Moving into Emmaus Village is a big life change, not just for the resident but for family and friends too.

At Emmaus Village, we are committed to providing compassionate, high-quality dementia care in a safe and welcoming environment.
We understand that understanding residential aged care fees can feel complicated, so we’ve outlined the main fees and charges to help you plan with confidence.
This payment covers the cost of accommodation – your bedroom, bathroom, furnishings, and shared spaces within the village. It’s set by us in line with the Aged Care Act and approved by the government based on the type and size of the accommodation.
The amount you will pay for accommodation at Emmaus Village is determined by a means assessment conducted by Services Australia or the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and differs by room.
You can choose to pay for accommodation in a few ways:

This fee covers your day-to-day living costs such as meals, laundry, cleaning, and utilities. It’s set by the government and reviewed twice a year in March and September.
The amount is the same across all residential aged care facilities and is equal to 85% of the single age pension. Prices are published on the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing website.
This fee is an extra contribution that some people pay towards the cost of their permanent care based on their financial situation. Services Australia or DVA will determine if this fee is applicable through the means assessment.
