Understanding the fees associated with respite and permanent care at Emmaus Home helps you plan with confidence.
This fee applies to all residents entering Emmaus Home, whether for respite or permanent care. It contributes to everyday living costs such as meals, laundry, cleaning, and utilities.
The amount is set by the government at 85% of the single Age Pension and is reviewed twice a year. For the most up-to-date rate, please visit the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing website.
This covers your bedroom, bathroom, furnishings, and shared spaces. It’s set in line with the Aged Care Act and approved by the government based on the type and size of the accommodation. The amount you pay is determined through a means assessment by Services Australia or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
You can pay in one of three ways:

This fee is an extra contribution that some people pay towards the cost of their permanent care based on their financial situation. Services Australia or DVA will determine if this fee is applicable through the means assessment.

RAD (Refundable Accommodation Deposit): RAD is defined as: “A lump sum that is refunded when you leave care. Please note if you entered residential aged care on or after 1 November 2025, RAD retention rules may apply. Learn more.
DAP (Daily Accommodation Payment): Interest charged on the unpaid RAD balance, calculated using the Maximum Permissible Interest Rate (MPIR) of 8.43%.
Formula: Reduced DAP = (Full RAD − RAD Paid) × MPIR ÷ 365
