Marriage

Contact Us →

Marriage or Holy Matrimony is a sacred covenant in which a man and a woman are united in love, fidelity, and lifelong commitment.

As a Sacrament of Service, marriage reflects Christ’s love for the Church and calls couples to live out their vocation in mutual support, prayer, and the raising of children in faith.

At St Agnes’ Catholic Parish, we are privileged to witness and support couples as they prepare for this lifelong journey together.

Preparation for marriage

Proper preparation is essential for a strong and enduring marriage. Couples intending to be married in our parish are required to complete the following:

Church documentation

(between 1 month and 18 months prior to your wedding)

You will need to make an appointment with a priest to complete the necessary Church documentation no earlier than 18 months and no later than 1 month prior to your wedding date. If you do not live locally, your local parish priest can complete the paperwork and post this to us.

Please ensure you bring copies of your full birth certificate, a recent copy of your Baptismal certificate, and photographic identification (driver’s license, passport, or photo ID) to your appointment.

Documentation can also be sent by post to:

St Agnes’ Parish Pastoral Office, PO Box 23, Port Macquarie NSW 2444

Government documentation

Ensure you check and complete any state-specific requirements for legal marriage registration at least 1 month prior to your wedding date.

Couples FOCCUS program

The couples FOCCUS program is a self-diagnostic tool designed to help couples learn more about themselves and their relationship. It is not a test or predictor of success, but a way to explore issues and grow together before marriage.

Completing this program is a requirement of marriage in St Agnes’ Catholic Church.

Documentation can also be sent by post to:
St Agnes’ Parish Pastoral Office, PO Box 23, Port Macquarie NSW 2444

St Agnes’ Catholic Parish

St Agnes’ Catholic Parish acknowledges the Birpai people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work, and serve. We acknowledge their deep connection to this land, its waters, skies, and stories, nurtured with wisdom, care, and resilience for countless generations. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging and extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
