International Volunteers’ Day was the perfect opportunity for St Agnes’ Parish volunteers to get together for afternoon tea and a pre-Christmas catch up.
United Nations’ International Volunteer Day (IVD), held on 5 December each year, is a global celebration of the vital role volunteers play in addressing the world’s challenges. It highlights the power of volunteering to strengthen communities and create positive change.
The Parish celebration, attended by about 70 volunteers, was a huge success despite an unexpected last- minute change of venue from Emmaus Village to the Parish Hall in Hay Street.
Anne O’Brien, Deputy CEO (Mission People and Culture) of St Agnes’ Catholic Parish briefly addressed the gathering to thank all volunteers for their generosity and support.
The hall was abuzz with chatter, during the informal event, as volunteers from different service areas enjoyed meeting each other and putting names to faces of staff and other volunteers.
The afternoon tea of delicious scones, biscuits, slices and fruit platters was supplied by St Agnes’ Food Services.
