Staff long service milestones recognised at Mass
St Agnes’ Catholic Parish celebrated its annual Staff Long Service Awards on 26 March 2025 with the celebration of Mass, the presentation of Service Awards and supper in the Parish Hall.
The Mass was celebrated by Fr Paul Gooley (Parish Priest) , Fr Prodencio Bognay and, newly ordained deacon, Shane Hyland, read the Gospel.
In total, 49 staff members were acknowledged for reaching significant service milestones including one, Mandy Meehan, who marked an extraordinary 45 years of service!
The lengths of service celebrated, ranging from 10 years through to Mandy’s amazing 45 years, add up to a remarkable combined total of 900 years. The employees recognised came from many different areas of the parish: 27 serve in our Parish Schools and 22 serve in our Care, Pastoral, Early Education and Administration services.
Tony Leahy, CEO of St Agnes’ Catholic Parish, who presented some of the awards, said it was a privilege to celebrate the outstanding dedication of employees at the Long Service Awards.
“These milestones are more than just numbers; they reflect years – sometimes decades – of care, commitment, and impact across our organisation and community,” said Tony.
“From those on the frontline in aged care, education, and community services, to the many behind-the-scenes teams in finance, administration, and operations – every role plays a vital part in our mission. Their hard work keeps our Parish running and ensures we can continue to serve those who need us most.”
Fr Paul and Peter McLoughlin (representing the Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools Office) presented the awards to school staff including Leanne Tinsey (St Joseph’s Regional College) and Kim Post (St Agnes Primary) who both celebrated 35 years of service.
In his homily, Fr Paul spoke about the importance of service and the difference it makes to our Parish, the community and the world.
“We give thanks to God for the many people who work in our Parish, especially those being recognised today for their dedicated service. Our Parish is all the richer for their devoted care and commitment,” said Fr Paul.
