Pop-Up Pantry helps with flood relief
St Agnes’ Catholic Parish has set up a Pop-Up Pantry to assist those recovering and rebuilding after floods hit the local area.
St Agnes’ Catholic Parish Director of Mission Anne O’Brien said the Pop-Up Pantry is here to help locals with non-perishable food and other supplies to help after the floods.
“The community has been so responsive in caring for and supporting those in the community who have been affected. When St Agnes’ Catholic Parish put out the call for donations among our community we were overwhelmed by the response and the Pop-up Pantry is our way of distributing pantry items to those in need,” Mrs O’Brien said.
“Apart from non-perishable grocery items, those in need can access other items such as blankets, linen and towels.”
“It is intended that the Pop-Up pantry will be open for the next couple of months to help people as they recover and rebuild their lives.”
“Staffed by our fantastic volunteers, the Pop-Up Pantry is also a place where people can seek further assistance that the Parish can provide. We are working with St Vincent de Paul with the provision of clothing and with Port Macquarie Hastings Flood Outreach Centre on referring those in need with the help they require.”
“If you have been affected by the floods or know someone who has, please come and visit the Pop-Up Pantry to see how we can help,” Mrs O’Brien concluded.
The Pop-up Pantry is open from 8am-5pm daily and is located at 110 William Street, Port Macquarie and can be contacted on 0436 684 496.
