Homelessness Support at the Community and Youth Hub
St Agnes’ Parish Community and The Youth Hub, in partnership with these other local community service providers, are holding “drop-in service” days in November for those in the community doing it tough. It will be open from 7am to 2pm and will offer a free breakfast and lunch at every session. Emergency food, clothing and toiletries parcels and shower and laundry facilities will also be available.
The first two drop-in days were on Thursday 13 October with a free GP on site from 10.30am to 12.30pm and Thursday 27 October where we also had a Vet onsite to assist with pet care. Twenty-five people came to use the showers and laundry facilities. The next drop-in day has been scheduled for Thursday 24 November.
The broader group of community service agencies have been trying to secure a suitable venue for this service and as the Parish has showers and laundry it is very appropriate for those in need. It is envisaged that we will pursue local or state government support for to provide this support ongoing.
