St Josephs’ Family Services Community Spread Kindness this Easter
Families and staff from across all of our St Joseph’s Family Services (SJFS) centres banded together to help collect donations this Easter for people in need within our community.
An abundance of donations included not only the classic chocolate bunnies and eggs, but also other practical supplies such as slippers, backpacks and colouring in books, all of which were donated to Our Place by Port Macquarie-Hastings Homelessness Program hosted by the Youth Hub.
Our Place is open each fortnight on Thursday mornings for those doing it tough within our community. The morning includes free breakfast and coffee supplied by M.A.D, emergency food, clothing and toiletries and a JP on site from Services Australia. The Youth Hub also provides shower and laundry facilities, with an average of 3-4 people utilising them per day.
Heather Mayne, Service Manager of SJFS said that it was great to see their community come together to bring kindness for those in need over this holiday period.
“One of the most treasured stories from this campaign was when we had a sibling of one of our children donate their special Easter eggs they had received at school to support the people in need” Heather said.
“We really hope we have put smiles on many faces over this Easter and we look forward to more kindness campaigns throughout the year” Heather said.
