Parish signs on new group of School-based trainees from Newman College
A new group of School-based trainees from Newman Senior Technical College commenced work with St Agnes’ Catholic Parish recently. Amongst the group are seven students who will train in Human Services and one who will undertake an early childhood education traineeship with St Joseph’s Family Services.
The group, pictured with Karen Warneken and Michelle Smith from Newman Senior Technical College, attended a sign-up day and information workshop at the Parish on 17 May 2023.
The one-day workshop included a welcome from Anne O’Brien, Deputy CEO, an introduction to the Parish’s Vision Mission and Values by Sr Anne Hannigan, Pastoral & Spiritual Care Team Leader, plus sessions on Human Resources processes including payroll, rostering and mandatory training requirements.
St Agnes’ Catholic Parish has supported more than nine School-based trainees to achieve their qualification over the last two years, with a further five trainees to complete their traineeships by the end of this year.
Leonie Wardrop, Human Resources and Volunteer Coordinator thanked the Parish staff involved in helping the new cohort of School-Based trainees enjoy a positive and welcoming experience while learning what we do and the services we offer.
“We look forward to strengthening our School-based trainee program with Newman Senior Technical College and continuing to provide opportunities for young people that help them on the path to success in their chosen field,” said Leonie.
“Thank you also to our amazing staff who will continue to support the trainees on the floor and provide them with leadership and mentoring as they work towards achieving their Certificate III competencies over the next year and a half as part of their Higher School Certificate”, Leonie added.
The trainees are excited to be joining us so, please welcome them if you see them onsite.
