Encounter is the youth ministry for St Agnes’ Catholic Church, offering spaces for young people to call home at every stage of their faith journey. Below is a list of ministries offered for different ages:

Encounter Kids:

• Encounter Kids is a ministry that offers children in primary school a place to call home during the early years of their faith journey.
• Children’s Liturgy of the Word is available at St Agnes’ Church on Sundays during the school term. At. The beginning of Mass, children from the ages of 4-12 are invited forward for a blessing before heading to a space of their own where they can hear the Word of God proclaimed in a way that makes sense to them.
• This is a space we expect to grow in the coming years, so stay tuned for more information.

Encounter Youth:

• Encounter Youth is a ministry that offers children in high school a place to call home during their high school faith journey.
• Every Friday night during the school term, high school students from across the Hastings region gather at the Youth & Community Hub from 6pm for food, fellowship, fun, and formation.
• Every 3^rd Sunday of the month, the Encounter Youth Band & Children’s Choir provide music for our 5pm Youth & Family Mass. If you want to find out more, contact our Youth Coordinator, or turn up to practice from 4pm at St Agnes’ Church.

Encounter YA:

• Encounter YA is a ministry that offers young adults a place to call home as they explore their catholic faith as adults.
• Every Thursday from 6pm, young adults from all different walks of life gather to study the Bible throughout Port Macquarie. After being fed by the Word, they gather for a meal at different restaurants in town.
• They also gather in smaller groups of men and women known as brotherhood and sisterhood, as well as various social gatherings. To find out what else is going on, join our community WhatsApp group here.

Encounter Kick-ons:

Every Sunday we invite the young people from our various Encounter ministries to attend the St Agnes’ Catholic Parish 5pm Youth & Family Mass. After Mass, all the young people are invited to ‘kick-on’ after Mass outside the Church with hot chocolate, music, and fellowship.
