ArtWalk 2025: A night that was truly out of this world
Port Macquarie’s ArtWalk 2025 lit up the town on Friday, 4 July, and St Agnes’ Catholic Parish was proud to be part of the magic. With this year’s theme, Out of This World, the Parish’s display captivated hundreds of visitors with a stunning blend of history, light, and creativity.
Anne O’Brien, Deputy CEO – Mission, People, and Culture at St Agnes’ Catholic Parish, said it was great to see the event go ahead after being postponed in early June due to the floods.
“It was lovely to see so many of our staff, families, friends, and the community turn out to see the Parish display,” said Deputy CEO Anne O’Brien.
“After a successful grant application through the Port Macquarie Hastings Council, a small team worked towards participation in this year’s Artwalk – the first for our Parish.”
The St Agnes’ display combined colourised historical imagery with cosmic themes, offering an interactive ‘angel wings’ photo opportunity that delighted visitors of all ages. Face painting and craft activities were popular with the young at heart.
A curated exhibition of framed historic photographs, accompanied by voice recordings from Fr Donnelly and other Parish members, invited guests to explore the rich history of the Parish in a deeply engaging way. Over 100 people scanned QR codes to learn more about the Parish’s past, while many more paused to admire the displays and share stories.
The response was overwhelmingly positive, with heartfelt messages from attendees:
“A fantastic display… the angel wings drew many of all ages” – Anne P “It was so awesome!” – Tess C “My family had a wonderful time.” – Kathren S “Truly spectacular.” – Jenny S
“A credit to all those who worked to put it together” – Sue W
Tahlia Danks, Manager Client Experience, who coordinated the Parish’s participation in the event, expressed deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the evening.
“Whether you were working behind the scenes, in the lead-up, or helping on the night — thank you – the event simply wouldn’t have happened without the many hands and creative minds that brought it to life,” said Tahlia.
Special thanks to Julia Tierney, Parish Archive Officer, for her curation of the historical content for the light show and photo display; to the Hastings Valley Fine Art Association for the use of their art easels; and to MacKillop College for their sweet treats.
St Agnes’ Catholic Parish has long been a cornerstone of the Port Macquarie community, offering pastoral ministries, education, aged care, and family services. The Parish shone brightly on ArtWalk night, sharing its history, heart, and hope with all who came.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for an unforgettable evening of creativity, connection, and community.
