Colouring Competition highlights the importance of Safeguarding

For National Child Protection Week the Learning & Development team at St Agnes’ Catholic Parish in Port Macquarie led a Colouring Competition (open to children and adults) to highlight the need for ongoing awareness regarding Safeguarding. The winners, announced on 25 September, received a small prize for their efforts.

Congratulations to Sage Percival and Ainsley Barker who are equal winners in the under 16’s section of the St Agnes’ Catholic Parish National Child Protection Colouring Competition!

Well done, also, to Gwenda Lee from Maryknoll Residential Care Home who won the over 16’s section!

Natasha Murphy, Learning & Development Manager (and Safeguarding Trainer) for St Agnes’ Catholic Parish says the competition is a fun way to remind everyone about the importance of safeguarding the vulnerable in our community.

“Safeguarding is everyone’s business. Every employee and volunteer must complete Safeguarding training at St Agnes Catholic Parish, this is our commitment to protecting vulnerability in children, families and elderly people at risk”, said Natasha.

“Just a simple question or conversation can provide the stepping stone or what’s required to keep someone safe from risk of harm,” she added.
