Kids invited to make a splash at Dolphin Playgroup
“Kids can play and make friends, families can support each other – all within an established, fun, learning environment.”
That is the objective of the St Agnes’ Parish Dolphin Playgroup says Playgroup Facilitator Angela Phillips.
“We have launched the Dolphin Playgroup after receiving feedback from parents about the need for the Parish to support the community in this way,” Angela said.
“We have had great support from the three St Agnes’ Parish primary schools, who have all agreed to take turns hosting the playgroups throughout first term.”
Ms Phillips said that anyone can attend the playgroup that best suits them across the three locations at:
- St Agnes’ Primary School – Boronia Street
- St Joseph’s Primary School – Warlters Street
- St Peter’s Primary School – Ocean Drive
“It is all about what suits the family best, you don’t have to live near the school.”
She said the Parish is currently calling for expressions of interest from families interested in attending the playgroups.
“If the demand is there we will be happy to run the Playgroups,” she said.
Coordinating Executive Officer for St Agnes’ Parish Education and Training Stephen Pares says offering the playgroups is a perfect fit for the Parish.
“The Parish has a long-held philosophy of recognising a need in the community and doing something about it and the Dolphin Playgroup is no different.”
“There’s a great sense of community in our schools, which is evident by the way the primary schools have jumped on board to support this initiative. I am sure that will be reflected in the way we run this Playgroup too,” Mr Pares said.
Dolphin Playgroup is for families with children from birth to six years old and provides an informal setting for parents and children to get to know each other. The cost to attend is a gold coin donation to cover basic expenses.
