Online religious education resource secures subscription for all schools in Brisbane diocese
Understanding Faith, an online religious education platform, has secured a 12-month subscription agreement with Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) to provide access to the Understanding Faith religious education resource for 2025.
Understanding Faith was established by St Agnes’ Catholic Parish in Port Macquarie in the 1990s and went online around 2007. Since then, it has become a market leader, providing online religious education resources to 45% of Catholic schools Australia wide.
Jacob Soerensen, the General Manager of Understanding Faith, said St Agnes’ Catholic Parish was delighted that its service had been chosen to supply its online resource to all Catholic schools in the Brisbane diocese.
“After six months of meticulous planning and a successful pilot program, Understanding Faith is excited that schools in the Brisbane diocese will join the 424 primary and 234 secondary schools nationwide that already use our platform,” Jacob said.
“We know our product better than anyone else so when we are working with new clients, we identify their needs through curriculum mapping so that we can provide them with quick and effective ways to navigate directly to the appropriate teaching and learning content for each unit.”
“For Brisbane, two members of the Understanding Faith team conducted a workshop and were able to map the Brisbane curriculum to the Understanding Faith content within a week, making it very easy for teachers involved in the pilot program to use the resource.”
“We also developed a customised filter for the Brisbane curriculum so teachers could filter our content according to their curriculum using strands and unit codes. This will be a huge time saver for them,’ added Jacob.
Understanding Faith offers a multimedia approach to learning, including interactive activities, videos, slideshows and podcasts, designed to foster Catholic faith and spirituality in young people. Its content aligns with religious educational curricula and is checked for doctrinal accuracy, making it a valuable tool for teachers of religious education.
Teachers using the Understanding Faith platform have access to instructional videos on YouTube, a curated list of helpful resources, and a range of blog content shared across their social media channels and websites. These blogs cover a wide range of topics such as current events and good news stories from the Catholic community.
