Residents’ Prayer Hub an inspiration for us all

At the blessing of St Teresa of Kolkata chapel in Emmaus, Bishop Greg Homeming said to the residents that at this stage of their lives they are probably doing the most important work that they have ever done – praying for others and the world.

Residents at St Agnes, Maryknoll, Mt Carmel, Vincent Court and Emmaus have the opportunity daily to listen to Fr Paul’s reflections and to pray together if they wish.

It has been delightful in Emmaus to see one of the residents inviting others to a prayer time in the chapel on Tuesdays at 2.30pm.

On 10 August eight residents arrived to pray together through hymns well known to so many of us, such as, Faith of Our Fathers, Queen of the May, We Stand for God.

For an hour, loud hymns rang out through the chapel and its surrounds as the residents sat in the chapel listening, praying and being together in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

One resident said ‘it took him back eighty years, it was very special’.

What a powerful time for this parish, in fact for the world! We thank them for being a Prayer Hub in the parish and for the parish.
