Second group of PALM workers from Vanuatu arrive in March

Planning is now underway to mobilise another group of ten (10) Ni-Vanuatu PALM workers to come to Port Macquarie to work at Emmaus. They are part of the Australian Government’s Aged Care Expansion (ACE) program, which supports participants to complete the Certificate III in Individual Support, under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme.

This second group, arriving on 3 March, will follow the same induction and learning pathway, which was so successfully navigated by the first group, which arrived in early August 2023.

The first group of fifteen (15) PALM workers from Vanuatu have now been working with St Agnes’ Care & Lifestyle at Emmaus and St Agnes’ Site (Mt Carmel, Maryknoll & St Agnes’ House) for six months.

This group are due to complete their Certificate III in Individual Support studies with the John Henry Institute (JHI), the Parish’s Registered Training Organisation (RTO 7054) at the end of March 2024. They are now an important part of our fulltime rosters, adding a wonderful new dimension to our residential aged care workforce.

The 10 new PALM workers are expected to arrive in early March.

Keep your eye out for more information in E-News, the Parish News bulletin, and posters you’ll see around the Parish. When new the group arrives, please make them feel welcome.
