Sharing Career Opportunities within our Community

On 2 February, St Agnes’ Catholic Parish held the first of its Career Information Evenings at the Youth Hub Hall in Horton Street, Port Macquarie.

There were 40 registrations for the event where attendees could find out more about the careers and training opportunities on offer at the Parish.

After an introductory overview from CEO Adam Spencer, attendees sought information one-on-one with representatives from residential care, home care, disability services, early education and training. Parish employees from each area also spoke to the group about the benefits of working with the Parish from both a personal and professional perspective.

Recruitment Advisor and MC for the event Jacqui Woodlands said the event had several positive outcomes. “This event was identified as complementary way that we could engage with local job-seekers. Normally when we place an ad for a job vacancy it is only for one position but through this event, job-seekers received a holistic view of what the Parish has to offer and were able to meet and network with Parish employees across all areas.”

Jacqui said interviews were occurring with a number of attendees as a result and its success means that more careers information events will be planned for the future.
