Family reading St Agnes' Parish news

Teacher uses his wits to outwit, outside the classroom!

Families were glued to the TV Monday the 8th of February as they watched local St Peter’s Teacher, Michael Gallery, lead his team to a combined winnings of $39 000 on ‘The Chase’.

“I really love quiz shows and I watch the Chase when I’m getting dinner ready so I knew how to play the game. I wanted to see if I could do it and maybe win some money too,” commented Michael.

“I was in a team with three other teachers, but I only met them on the day. We talked about how to work as a team so we could beat the Chaser” he continued.

The Chase is filmed over five hours and then cut into one hour so contestants had time to plan and get to know each other. All 4 teachers made it to the final chase and we ended up answering 22 questions, which was too much for Tiger Mum to catch, so they won $39 000.

“When Tiger Mum came out, our team was worried because she is so smart, but luckily we knew heaps of answers,” said Michael.

Michael will donate some of the money and use the rest to put towards buying a caravan for his family.

“It was a fun experience and if you can answer the questions at home on the couch and you’re thinking about going on the show you definitely should” commented Michael.

Michael is the Leader of Pedagogy and teacher as St Peter’s Primary School.  Students in his year four Monday class, worked out his shared winnings from $39 000 and then researched ways he could spend his share as part of their maths learning.
