The blessing of the newly relocated Parish Library

A small group of parishioners and staff gathered for the blessing of the newly relocated St Agnes’ Catholic Parish Library in the Understanding Faith workroom on Friday 16 August.

Anne O’Brien, Deputy CEO (Mission, People & Culture) welcomed everyone saying the occasion marked the beginning of a new chapter in our community.

“We have had the library in a few places over the years but positioning it in our Understanding Faith team workroom is the perfect synergy – this place is where faith and knowledge come together under one roof,” Anne said.

“This library is not just a collection of books; it is a space where we can grow in our understanding of the faith, deepen our spiritual lives, and connect with one another. Whether you’re seeking inspiration, guidance, or simply a quiet place to reflect, this library is here for you,” she added.

Anne also thanked the Understanding Faith team, under the leadership of Jacob Sorenson, for their dedication and professional manner in making the library’s new home such a lovely space to visit.

Fr Paul then led those present through a liturgy of the Word, prayers of intercession and a prayer of blessing for the library.

Afterwards, everyone enjoyed morning tea and a chat as they browsed the library’s collection of books.

The library is open Monday and Wednesday 10am – 12pm and Friday 10am – 2pm

Books can be borrowed for up to a month – see the Understanding Faith team for information on how to borrow.

The library’s new home offers easy access for visitors as the entrance to the Understanding Faith office is located in the Parish’s Hayward Street car park.
