The current fire season, including October and November, has been very tense for many in our Parish communities.

At The Francis Retreat, during what is traditionally one of their busiest times of year, six groups were unable to proceed with their planned retreats and activities.

At the height of the fire threat to Lake Cathie and Bonny Hills, in early November, The Francis Retreat was very fortunate to be providing accommodation and catering to Fire & Rescue Teams.

Strike Team Delta from Grafton and Strike Team November from Newcastle provided 24-hour rotation support to the local Rural Fire Service within the Hastings area.

The St Agnes Catholic Parish, generously donated $2,000 toward the accommodation of the Teams staying at The Francis Retreat.
