Whole of community gathering scheduled for 24 November, the Feast of Christ the King
One of our parish values is ‘United as one body’, yet we rarely get the opportunity to come together in one group as ‘one body’. This year’s celebration of the Feast of Christ the King on 24 November is set to change that.
Planning is well underway for a day of community gathering to celebrate the unity and diversity of St Agnes’ Catholic Parish.
On Sunday 24 November, the Parish will combine all Sunday Masses to celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King in a tangible way, united as one body.
This means we will not have our usual Masses at 7.30am, 9am or 5pm on that day.
Instead, we will gather as a whole community for one Mass at St Joseph’s Regional College, College Drive, at 10.00am. Following Mass there will be a community celebration with food, activities, music and entertainment.
The event, an initiative of the Parish Pastoral Council, is expected to conclude around 2.30pm.
“Our parish community is so wonderfully diverse, with many people gathering in our schools, chapels, aged care centres and early childhood centres at various times and locations in the Hastings region throughout the year,” says Zac Parnell, member of the Parish Pastoral Council.
“The prospect of being together as a community, in one place at one time, is quite exciting.”
“We are inviting everyone to get behind the event, to come along and make the most of this wonderful opportunity to get together socially,” he added.
“The program and catering are still being planned; and we are also looking at options for transport,” concluded Zac.
