Zac attends Renaissance Australia: A creative encounter with Christ
Zac Parnell, St Agnes’ Catholic Parish Youth Coordinator attended Renaissance Australia – a two-day experience of inspiration, worship, creativity, imagination, and encounter – held in Brisbane in mid-October. Hosted by Newlife and supported by Alpha Australia, the Renaissance movement began in the United Kingdom in a church in East London and grown from there.
Renaissance with its main stage sessions practical labs, and interactive pop-ups is designed to inspire those who want to see their local church become a cathedral of creativity, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Zac says Renaissance was not what he expected but was exactly what he needed.
“I was stretched beyond my comfort zone—creating social media posts in minutes, skipping around the room (yes, skipping!), and singing my heart out, not just in worship, but with karaoke. More importantly, I was deeply challenged to put Jesus at the centre of my ministry and recommit to living a life of integrity,” says Zac.
A highlight for Zac was a session titled “You: The Spark of Hope” OF HOPE”, led by Lisa McInnes-Smith.
“The Spark of Hope session focused on how to share the contagious hope of Christ in everyday life. It equipped us to tell our stories and open conversations about God’s love in authentic and meaningful ways.” says Zac.
“If you’re someone who’s passionate about creativity, leadership, or simply wants to grow in your faith and ministry, I wholeheartedly encourage you to consider attending next year. It’s more than a conference—it’s a movement, and it might just be the spark you need,” concluded Zac. Find out more about Renaissance
