Psalms come to life at Parish Retreat

About 50 parishioners gathered at The Francis Retreat in Bonny Hills on Friday 21 May for the Parish Retreat, the theme of which was ‘Drawing comfort and strength from the Psalms’.

Facilitator of the retreat was Rev Dr Elio Capra SDB, a Salesians of Don Bosco priest, who lectures in Liturgy and Sacramental Theology at Catholic Theological College, Melbourne. From Italian heritage, Fr Elio’s unique presentation style was very engaging and brought the Psalms to life in a manner that made them

relatable to the people of today.

Many parishioners commented that through attending, they gained insight that would help them engage with the Psalms in a more personal and meaningful way.

Starting at 9am on a chilly May morning, the event concluded with a beautiful Mass in the Romero Chapel and lunch.

The Francis Retreat was the perfect venue for such a retreat; Its idyllic environment created just the right atmosphere. Joady Castles and the team at Francis Retreat are to be congratulated on the delicious morning tea and lunch, not to mention the wonderful hospitality and happy smiles with which they served it!

Fr Elio also attended the Catholic Schools Parent Assembly weekend on 22-23 May as part of his visit.

Peta Rourke, who coordinated the events for the Parish and the Catholic Schools Office, was delighted to see how much everyone enjoyed them.
